Car Rental · Agadir
Crossing the High Atlas from Agadir is one of Morocco's most breathtaking drives. Two routes compete for your attention: the Tizi n'Test (2,092 m, P2028 road, 270 km to Marrakech) — a wilder, more dramatic route of switchbacks and vertiginous views over the Toubkal massif — and the Col du Tichka (2,260 m, A7+N9, 240 km via Ouarzazate), more accessible in all seasons.
Agadir Car Hire recommends an SUV or 4x4 for Atlas crossings, especially on the Tizi n'Test between November and March when snow is possible above 1,800 m. Our vehicles are fully insured across Morocco with unlimited mileage. Check weather conditions before you set off, and take your time — these mountain passes reward slow driving.

For adventurers: the Tizi n'Test (P2028) — wilder, more spectacular, but narrower and best avoided if snow is forecast. For winter safety: the A7 to Marrakech then the Col du Tichka if you're continuing to Ouarzazate.
Yes, but we strongly recommend an SUV or 4x4 in winter. The Col du Tichka is usually passable with snow chains when conditions are icy; the Tizi n'Test can be closed. Always check conditions before departing.
Allow 4–5 hours without extended stops. In practice most travellers stop in Berber villages and for photos — budget a full day to really enjoy the route.
